A virtual hoard of the shiny things I find on the internet.

Rode my bike to work today. on Flickr.Since it’s gorgeous out, I decided it was a good day to try to take my bike to work. On the whole, it was a successful endeavor, but here are the lessons learned:
1. It takes a lot longer to get out the door than I think it does, when I didn’t already have appropriate bike stuff ready. I think I can trim that down.
2. Related: Maybe it’s time to break down and get a bluetooth headset. I was late, and the people I was meeting with were trying to call but I couldn’t answer my phone.
3. Clipping my fedora to my handlebars with a carabiner is not as brilliant as I thought it would be.
4. Yoga pants. I know we’re supposed to be able to dress for the destination, not the ride, but I spent half the ride hiking my skirt down lest I flash the entire National Mall.
The good news is, I was correct that MBT to Capitol Hill to the Mall is a good, reasonably safe route for the inexperienced bike commuter.

This is my father-in-law. I can’t tell whether he liked this better, or the remote-controlled helium balloon clownfish.
