A virtual hoard of the shiny things I find on the internet.
We are pretty prepared for this storm. The car is gassed up. We have food (and liquor and Diet Coke). Our freezers are full and we’ll be freezing some additional water in anticipation of the power outage that is surely coming. Since we live on relatively high ground and we fixed the basement floor this summer, the basement will probably not flood. The bikes have been moved indoors. When the power goes out, the stove will still work though we’ll be using a lighter to light it, plus we have food that can be held at room temperature or doesn’t require a lot of prep.
The major concerns for us at this point are tree branches (beautiful tree-lined Brookland always has issues with this during high winds) and the extended power outages that can come with them. Oh, and making sure the Simple Cat doesn’t sneak out the door and get himself locked out in a hurricane. But I have the Magic Blanket so I expect he’ll spend rather a lot of the next couple of days snuggled up next to me.
We’re all good. Hope you’re all staying safe and dry too.
