A virtual hoard of the shiny things I find on the internet.

Since there’s a great big ol’ TBD Community Network badge on every page of We Love DC, I probably don’t need to formally disclose that relationship, but I will take this opportunity to say, on behalf of the owners and author community, that we entered into our relationship with TBD because we appreciated the respectful, non-territorial approach they took toward working with local blogs. Even as TBD emphasized its own reporting more after founder Jim Brady’s departure, we continued to find our relationship with TBD to be a positive force on our site. We hope that the TBD team gets to continue that collegial approach under the management of the TV station.

Everyone I’ve met on the TBD team, I’ve liked immensely, both for their knowledge and for their drive. It saddens me that they’re largely being dicked around in a pissing contest between the TV guys and the Corporate guys.

Let them do some good out there, Bill Lord.

As someone whose job, I think it is fair to say, involves a lot of teaching about/evangelizing the web to an established management structure, I’m definitely raising a glass to my peeps at TBD today. It definitely seems to me like they’re getting steamrolled into the exact opposite of what most of them signed up for (and in some cases left other jobs in other cities to move to DC and be a part of).

I hope I’m wrong about that.
