A virtual hoard of the shiny things I find on the internet.

Following an in-interview announcement by Jim at MarsCon over the weekend, we’ve updated the site to reflect the new release date for Ghost Story: July 26, 2011.

Said Jim (paraphrased): “It came down to, readers could either get a half-assed story in April, or a full-assed one in July!

Ghost Story Publication Date Bumped to July | Jim Butcher

While respecting the creative necessity of making this move (because seriously, Butcher wrote Changes, then immediately went into finishing Side Jobs, and then immediately started Ghost Story, meaning he’s basically been immersed in the Dresdenverse for 2 years without a break) and remembering that authors are not particularly obliged to anyone but their publishers, I simultaneously would just like to say:

GAHGAHGAHGAHGAH

Because I am kind of climbing the walls to find out what happens next.

Related: This means the release of the new Dresden book will be the same day as the release of Harry Connolly’s next Twenty Palaces book. Since they’re both urban fantasy series, with sort of a similar milieu, the more established Dresden could overshadow the Twenty Palaces books, OR it could help.

It seems that Connolly’s publisher has felt the pressure and has moved Circle of Enemies’ release date to August 30. So sad. But my recommendation below stands.

Since I am a big fan of both series, but the Dresden Files consistently make the NYT bestseller lists and therefore do not need my help so much, let me just throw out my recommendation for the Twenty Palaces books. Harry Connolly has some really interesting ideas, and I thoroughly enjoyed the two he’s written so far.
