People are saying we’re humanizing Sherlock this year, but I keep thinking, it’s more like we’re letting him grow up. He’s encountering the big enemies: love and fear and loss. It’s how that still very new friendship survives all that, and [we were] constantly keeping at the front of our minds that our Holmes and Watson have only known each other a short time.
