A virtual hoard of the shiny things I find on the internet.

group: The Whiffenpoofs song: “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Buble
Their sound is rich and their harmonies are class. Unfortunately they were up against stiff competition and that they seemed to sing down their noses at the song made that difference to me. I just didn’t buy it and maybe I should have just said that but that didn’t quite dawn on me until it was time to deliberate on the performances with my judge homies. At the time they were singing I just felt that they were singing the wrong song and that the leads were well sung but not memorable. But as I thought about it, it dawned on me that no matter what they sang or how plain the delivery was, they needed to have meant it. I really hated to see them go because they represent a style that has a place on the show and they do it well. I hope to see them do “September Song” or “You’re the Top” someday or anything that they actually would enjoy singing. They were the epitome of class as they left us with their swan song!

The Sing-Off - On Key with Ben Folds

I love Ben Folds’ wrapup blog entries about The Sing-Off. And I knew I wasn’t imagining the thing that bothered me about the Whiffenpoofs.
