A virtual hoard of the shiny things I find on the internet.

Furnishing indecision (by Tiffany Baxendell Bridge)
Or… Home Decorating for the Commitment-Averse.
I asked on Twitter earlier today for opinions about these two chairs with this rug. A lot of respondents liked the striped chair on the left, because it’s lighter, it makes a bolder statement, it’s less neutral… and I agree… which is exactly why I ended up deciding on the chair on the RIGHT?
Huh?
I love the chair on the left. I think it’s fun, and beach-y. But it’s kind of a commitment to those particular colors- light green, lavender, gold. And while I love those colors in the particular combination of the chair, I’m not wild about them generally. And I’ve got this really cool red stepstool/chair that’s been hanging out in the living room that clashes horribly with those chairs.
Meanwhile, the room as it currently exists has beige walls with white trim around the windows and doorways, a sand-colored couch, light maple floors, and light maple bookcases. It’s already got plenty of light-colored stuff going on.
So I went with the more neutrally-colored chair, and then bought a big pile of throw pillows in assorted reds and greens. Two plain red velvet ones to go on the patterned chairs, and then a bunch of fun embroidered ones to go on the neutral couch. And when I decide I’m tired of the red and want like, peacock blue or something… it’s cheap to switch them around.
And then I totally nerded out and bought a couple of vintage metal trays on Etsy to attach to two beat up old speaker stands we’ve had laying around but haven’t gotten rid of yet.
And now I must step AWAY from the computer.
