A virtual hoard of the shiny things I find on the internet.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
This morning there was a knock on our door about noon. I didn’t recognize the gentleman knocking, but he handed me his card right away and introduced himself as James. He fixed my neighbor’s retaining wall last week after the car wreck destroyed it, and he’d seen that our could use some work.
We’ve been looking for someone to help with this for at least a year. He offered me a quote on the spot, went home, drew up a proposal, brought it back to us and collected the deposit.
On Thanksgiving.
He’ll do the work tomorrow and Saturday.
Sir, I salute you, because every day is a hustle, and you exemplify that mantra. You rock.
Worth. Every. Penny.
The price he quoted was quite reasonable as well; we’ve been wanting to fix the wall holding up our front yard for a while but had put it off because we weren’t sure what it would cost and we had some other priorities. But this is quite affordable. And our neighbor has been very happy with his work, which we can plainly see looks great. He also mentioned working with another guy who is sort of a jack-of-all-trades of home improvement projects, and we’ve been wanting to get a quote for some work in our basement.
Also? James lives two blocks from us. So we get to give the business to someone right in the neighborhood, and possibly a second project for another local business.
I am most pleased.
