Priorities: How do they work?
frageelay:
If Tumblr would concentrate on being useful instead of expending a weird amount of energy cock-blocking the one-man operation who did just that, Tumblr would really be something.

How to watch UK TV shows
tj:
lindstifa:
A lot of you have asked how to watch UK shows as they air there. I started using TunnelBear after Neil Gaiman mentioned it on Twitter. TunnelBear makes it look like you’re in the UK and TV channels’ websites will then allow the show to play.
If you get the Giant TunnelBear ($5/mo) you can even use it on your iPad.
Boom.
Even I find this nerdy.
So proud.

Karen Mangiacotti: The Penis Mom →
jwisser:
When I was little I wanted to be a lot of things: Johnny Carson’s replacement; A Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader so good I was the only one on the team; an artist with my own wing at the Boston Museum of Fine Art — you know, normal stuff. I wanted to be a lot of things, but I never — I PROMISE you — ever wanted to grow up to be someone known as “The Penis Mom”.
But here I am.
It all...
hi, new people
Okay, so there are a bunch of new people following me all of the sudden, so it’s time to revisit the speech I give when this happens.
This is where I dump all the bits and bobs of whatever attracts my notice on the Internet, so it gets a bit schizophrenic in here. Overplayed Internet memes, photos of my cats, feminism, religion, grammar, rants about DC politics, inside jokes with a...

markicksass:
Very interesting, but pretty discouraging, article. One thing I noticed about the slide show is that the Bridges look happy in the before picture, but not in the after pictures. Nearly every picture has a stern face, not a smiling face. It’s just not what I’m used to seeing when I look at before/ afters on Tumblr. Usually it’s the other way around.
Also, the fact that they were...

(For those of you who haven’t followed the conversation, my in-laws are featured in next week’s New York Times Magazine for their significant weight loss and the more important fact that they have mostly kept the weight off. Read the article because it’s really important to this conversation, and be sure to see the slideshow. Wife brag: That first photo was taken by Tom! Look at...

Because pretty much the only way to make “made with love” better is to add freakin’ LASERS.

If you break it up into 4 8 mile legs, it will be much more doable….maybe you and Tom get an early start and they meet you at the mid point to continue on?
It’s basically 16 miles to Putah Creek Cafe for breakfast. We’ll have breakfast and drink lots of water, and then get on the bikes to head back. But I would not be at all surprised if we...

My in-laws have very generously rented a suitably-framed bicycle for me while we’re in Davis, because they were able to lend one to Tom from their stable of bikes-suitable-for-giants, but obvs I am way shorter than any of them. We rode to and from lunch today, including a little detour through the UC Davis campus (no pepper-spraying cops encountered), for about 5.5 miles.
Over lunch, my...
